Union Minister Shri Sonowal Launches First Solar Ferry, Floating Jetty
Union Minister of Ayush & Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri. Sarbananda Sonowal in the presence of Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant today inaugurated the Floating Jetty and also launched the Solar Electric Hybrid ferry Boat at Ferry Point Panjim.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sonowal said that Goa is the most beautiful State having scenic beauty of nature beaches which attract tourists from across the world. He said that these two projects will definitely add to the dimension of the potentiality to provide latest facilities to enhance global and domestic tourists. Such projects will help to create best facilities for users and this is the best way to convert Goa as one of the most attractive destinations in the country, he pointed.
Further he said that under the Dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi India has witnessed a lot of development in various sectors, we have seen how modernization, digitization and mechanization have taken place in the entire Ports and Shipping Sector.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that solar electric hybrid ferry is the first project in Goa worth approximately Rs. 3.97 Crores which we have launched today in Goa. In future, Goa Government will introduce and operate more solar ferry boats at various parts of all over Goa which will help to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. He informed that the Ferry boat will operate from Chorao to Panjim on a trial basis for passengers. The Government will decide on rates till that it will be free for initially 15 days.
Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Tourism, Shri Shripad Naik; Minister for Social Welfare Shri. Subhash Phaldessai; Minister for Revenue Shri. Atanasio Monserrate, Mayor, Corporation of the City Panjim Shri Rohit Monserrate others were among those prominent present on the occasion.
